The ideal candidate will have:

  • Collaborative working style.


  • Experience in marketing, communications, event coordination, media management, social media development, graphic design, and/or website content creation.


  • Two years of increasingly responsible professional-level communications, media and/or public information experience.


  • The equivalent of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in English, journalism, marketing, communication, public relations, graphic design, marketing, or a related field.


  • Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, or Adobe is a plus.

The Position

The Marketing & Communications Specialist is a management level position dedicated to marketing the County to its internal and external customers. Typical responsibilities for this position include:

Collaborate

  • Create visually appealing marketing materials and develop digital marketing strategies.


  • Create tailored advertising and outreach plans designed to maximize qualified applicant pools and facilitate innovative and modern advertising campaigns.


  • Design and update the HR Department’s public-facing recruitment website and intranet.


  • Support an increased focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts and programs.


  • Support employee retention, engagement, and development efforts with a focus on internal communications and marketing of these programs, as well as employee benefits services and programs currently offered by HR.

DEVELOP

  • Engaging graphics, videos, and reports.


  • Marketing strategy and campaigns aimed at increasing and maximizing qualified and diverse applicant pools.


  • Specialized communication campaigns targeting internal and external customers to highlight recruitments, benefits, wellness programs, and learning and development offerings.

ESCALATE

  • Increase the County’s social media presence, including direct recruitment placement on social media platforms. This position will manage the placement of posts on the County’s social media accounts and identify online outreach opportunities.


  • Evaluate, identify, and support various community outreach activities.


  • Expand partnerships with local schools and colleges to enhance internship and recruitment opportunities.


  • Employee education and engagement of available resources including career growth and development opportunities, benefits, retirement, deferred compensation, and wellness programs.
